All things Grand - the setting was the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt but above all, the Dive In Festival 2019, Singapore leg had the grandest agenda of putting the spotlight on Diversity and Inclusion in insurance.
At the get-go, the event received overwhelming response to the extent that it was moved to a ballroom of higher capacity. And still, registrations were filled. It meant that we can expect the attendees to be a curious, passionate and engaged crowd.
Women in Reinsurance was keen to capture exactly that. With Swiss Re’s sponsorship, we captured portraits of the attendees, pinned them to the photo board and took a second version with our photographer as a visual representation of the people that make the industry tick.
But what exactly does Diversity mean to the attendees? They each wrote a few words in support of the Diversity and Inclusion movement, shared their convictions or simply described how unique they were. Beautiful words reflecting the human element of business.
In the dynamism of daily work, amidst renewals, product launches, reports and meetings, we often forget that insurance is a people business and we will only benefit from harnessing the breadth of thought and perspectives from as many backgrounds as possible.
We hope these portraits will lead you to think about your colleague, your team, your business partners - celebrate and uplift them and accord them the respect they deserve.
WiRE expressed its plan to release an e-book version of the portraits with a view to raise funds for a women-focused, non-profit organisation. Further details of this project to follow. In the meantime, please contact WiRE for possible collaboration and sponsorship opportunities.
